E-Bikes, Scooters & Mobility
Shared transport in UK cities now means a dockless e-bike or a rental e-scooter, and the three operators with live referrals score very differently. Forest, the London-only B Corp, is the most generous at £10 of free riding each side — but the credit is London-bound and expires in seven days. Lime runs the widest network, across London plus Greater Manchester, Oxford, Nottingham, Milton Keynes and, from 1 April 2026, seven West Midlands cities, paying £4 each side on a 60-day window. Voi covers the most towns outside London — roughly two-thirds of England's e-scooter trials — paying the joiner £2.50 and the referrer £5. Rental e-scooters are legal only through approved trial operators (the DfT trial runs to May 2028) and need a provisional licence; e-bikes need neither.

Mobility questions
Which e-bike or scooter referral scores highest in 2026?
Forest tops the table for value at £10 each side — but only if you ride in London, because the credit is London-only and lapses after seven days. Lime scores best for reach with £4 each side across the most cities and a generous 60-day window, and Voi leads outside London. The right pick depends entirely on where you ride.
Are rental e-scooters legal in the UK in 2026?
Only through an approved operator on the DfT-supervised trial, which runs to May 2028. You must be 18 or over with at least a provisional UK driving licence (category Q) and use the official rental app. Privately owned e-scooters remain illegal on public roads, pavements and cycle lanes.
Does the ride credit cover the unlock fee?
It varies. Lime's £4 coupon covers the full ride including unlock, so a sub-£4 trip is free. Forest's £10 covers per-minute charges only — the £1 unlock and any daily fee still apply. Always check the offer page before assuming a credit covers an entire journey.
