Why first orders are cheaper

AliExpress uses first-order prices to win new customers; across the site, qualifying items carry a "New shoppers only" tag. On 24 September 2026 the Welcome deal page offered, among others:

What AliExpress is

Founded in 2010 and owned by Alibaba Group, AliExpress is a marketplace rather than a shop: independent sellers list the goods, AliExpress handles payment and dispute resolution. When an order goes wrong

Buyer Protection is AliExpress's refund promise. It applies when:

• the order misses the delivery window guaranteed on the order page, or is lost;
• goods arrive broken or incomplete;
• the item differs from its description or photos, reported within 15 days of arrival.

It adds to UK consumer law rather than replacing it. Money goes back to the original card or wallet, or to an AliExpress refund balance that pays out faster.

Free Return extends to UK buyers on items that carry its badge. You have 15 days beyond the on-time delivery date to change your mind. Raise a return, wait up to two days for approval, collect the free label within five days, and hand the parcel in at a drop-off point within 15 days.

Tax and customs

UK law makes online marketplaces charge VAT when you buy, on any parcel up to £135. So at those values the checkout total is final and no courier fee appears at the door. For parcels over £135, VAT and possible duty are paid on import instead. GOV.UK publishes the rules.

Placing a first order, step by step
