Credit Cards & Loans

This is the one sector where the reward should be the last thing you look at. A referral on a credit card or a personal loan is worth tens of pounds; the interest on a balance carried at a representative 29.9% APR is worth far more, and a missed payment marks a credit file for years. What makes these offers worth listing at all is that the products are FCA-regulated, unlike the pay-later products in Wallets, and that the good ones let you see your personalised rate through a soft search that leaves no trace. We publish the reward, the representative APR and the fee structure together, because only the three read side by side tell you anything.

What to look for here

  • The lender is authorised and regulated by the FCA, with the firm reference published
  • Eligibility can be checked with a soft search that does not affect your credit rating
  • The representative APR is shown next to the reward, never on its own
  • What actually releases the reward is stated — approval alone rarely does
  • Fees, and the payment method, are disclosed before you apply

Credit questions

Should a referral reward influence which credit card I take?

No. Choose on the rate, the limit and the fees, then take the reward if the card you already chose happens to offer one. A reward worth tens of pounds is trivial beside interest on a carried balance, and applying for credit you do not need leaves a hard search on your file.

Will applying damage my credit score?

Checking eligibility should not — a soft search is invisible to other lenders and is how you see your personalised rate before committing. A hard search is recorded only when you accept an offer and sign, and that one is visible to other lenders for months.

Why does the Zable reward have no fixed figure?

Because Zable sets it per account. Its help centre says the reward depends on your Zable products and the status of your accounts, and shows the amount inside the app. We publish the inviter's displayed figures for context and say plainly that yours may differ, rather than printing a number that would be wrong for most readers.
