Most SIM-only shoppers start with a budget, not a data figure. Set the budget at a tenner and Talkmobile gives you 100GB for it, on the Vodafone network, with unlimited calls and texts. Take the 12-month version through the TopReferrals link and the first three months cost £4.98 each.

Every plan carries unlimited UK minutes and texts. For 12-month plans bought now, Talkmobile states the full monthly price applies from 2 January 2027.

The first-year maths

On the 12-month 100GB plan, year one costs £104.49: three months at £4.98 and nine at £9.95. That averages about £8.71 a month for 100GB, roughly 9p a gigabyte. The 150GB plan works out at £125.46 for the year, about £10.46 a month. The 30-day 100GB plan, at £9.95 every month, costs £119.40 over the same year in exchange for the freedom to leave on 30 days' notice.

Coverage and network

Talkmobile is based at Vodafone House in Newbury and runs on Vodafone's network; its plan details also list access to Three. You get 5G where it is available and 4G or 2G elsewhere at no extra charge. If Vodafone's signal is already good where you live and work, that is the coverage a Talkmobile SIM uses. Talkmobile's site has a network signal checker to use before you buy, and the brand describes its customer service as award-winning.

What is included on every plan

• Roaming in 47 European destinations at no extra cost, using your UK minutes, texts and up to 5GB of data under fair use; standard charges apply elsewhere.
• Wi-Fi Calling, so calls and texts work over Wi-Fi where signal is weak, on compatible phones running Android 12 or iOS 15.4.1 and above.
• eSIM support, or a multi-size physical SIM.
• Tethering and tablets: share your data as a hotspot or put the SIM in a compatible tablet.
• No credit check at any stage.

Switching to Talkmobile

Keeping your number takes one text: send PAC to 65075 from your current phone, and give Talkmobile the code when you join.

Rolling or 12 months?

Choose 12 months if you expect to stay a year: the half-price start and the lower average make it the cheaper route to 100GB. Choose 30 days if you might switch soon, travel in and out of the UK, or want to test the signal first; you can change or cancel any time with 30 days' notice and no early termination fee. A 12-month plan can be ended early, but an early termination fee may apply inside the minimum term.

How it sits against Chattr

Chattr, also on TopReferrals, sells unlimited data, and Talkmobile does not. If you genuinely need no cap, Chattr's Freedom One is the plan to look at; if 100GB or 150GB is plenty, Talkmobile is the cheaper way to get it, and its roaming list of 47 European destinations is longer than Chattr's 43.

Who it suits

• Streamers and hotspot users: 100GB covers a month of heavy use, and tethering is allowed, so a laptop on the train can run off the phone.
• Second-device owners: the SIM works in compatible tablets, sharing the plan's data.
• Regular travellers to Europe: 47 destinations are included at no extra cost, which suits weekend breaks and work trips alike.
• Anyone who prefers no credit search: Talkmobile runs no credit check on SIM-only plans.
• Light users on a budget: the 15GB 30-day plan at £5.95 still includes unlimited minutes, texts and EU roaming.

1. Check the signal where you live and work with Talkmobile's network checker.
2. Decide on the term: 12 months for the lowest price and the three half-price months, 30 days for freedom to leave.
3. Pick SIM or eSIM: eSIM avoids waiting for the post if your phone supports it.
